This is a mirror of the original blog at southcocoabeach.com that’s been running since March 2005. Rather than repost it all here, I’ve left that blog intact and will continue posting to both sites. If you missed the earlier commentary, please visit that site and catch up. My predictions from 2 years ago about the direction of the Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral real estate markets are, unfortunately, playing out in full force in late 2007. If you are involved in these markets, it would be prudent to read my posts and research every source of information you can find and, most of all, be skeptical of self-serving comments from the real estate industry, especially NAR, who called the bottom one year ago and who spent $30 million early this year telling the public that “now” is a good time to buy a home. Many (but not all) who heeded that advice took a hit as prices continued to slide. I believe that some properties present opportunity but buyers must proceed with caution. The gems are well-hidden in the trash.

My goal here is to present the statistics and offer observations on market activity. I promise to smooch no behinds in my effort to present the whole truth, ugly though it is at times.

  1. Larry,
I stumbled across your site Thurdsay. While I do think I had seen it back in 2006, it did not stick for some reason.
I have saved it to my desktop, and am going to go through the historic blogs to date.
I am from Cocoa Beach since 1971, and am living in Ridgway Colorado. I find your insite interesting and candid, which frankly the entire community could use more of the truth. Please keep me on your email for updates. K
